Premium Hand-Crafted Dentures or Digital Dentures?
Our premium handcrafted dentures represent the highest level of denture fabrication. Each tooth is individually set by hand in our in-house laboratory, allowing for precise control over aesthetics, bite, and function. We utilize specialized muco-compressive impression techniques, which record the oral tissues under functional pressure rather than at rest. This approach allows intentional pressure to be placed on ideal stress-bearing areas, with detailed border-moulding to replicate natural muscle movement and to improve retention, stability, and comfort.
Every handcrafted denture is made using premium materials sourced from Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Japan, ensuring the highest quality, durability, and natural appearance. Because these dentures are fully custom from start to finish, they require additional clinical steps, time, and expertise. Mastering the art of handcrafted denture fabrication takes thousands of hours of dedicated practice and meticulous repetition, combining both technical skill and artistic judgement. The result is a denture truly tailored to the patient’s anatomy, function, and long-term tissue health. As Michelangelo said, “Trifles make perfection, and perfection is no trifle.”
We also offer a more economical digital denture option. These dentures are computer-designed and manufactured using digital workflows, often requiring fewer appointments and a faster turnaround. Digital dentures are either milled from a solid puck of acrylic or 3D-printed from resin. Digital impressions that are captured with an intra-oral scanner provide excellent accuracy and efficiency for many applications. However, digital scans are inherently static and record tissues at rest, which can limit their performance in situations where soft tissue compression and functional movement are essential.
“A machine can do anything but it lacks the practiced touch of a human hand — that comes from the human heart.”
Consultation and General Oral Examination
For your first visit at Tsawwassen Dentures, Jon will go over your unique case thoroughly, discuss your medical and oral health history, and provide an oral examination. At this time, Jon will recommend your best options, taking into account the fit and functions of your dentures, as well as aesthetics, giving you all the information to make an informed decision.
Complete Dentures
A complete denture is a great option if you’re missing all of your teeth on your upper gums, lower gums, or both. They are removable, so they can be taken out for cleaning and sleeping. We will fit your dentures based on your unique anatomy and your dentures will be held in your mouth by suction. A complete denture will restore your chewing and speech, and also give you that beautiful smile, however you want it to look. Do you want a Hollywood smile or a more natural look? We can customize your denture to suit your needs.
Partial Dentures
If you’re only missing a few teeth, we can fill in the gap with a partial denture, which is a more affordable option than an implant or can be a more suitable option than a bridge. One tooth missing may not seem like a big deal, but in reality, our teeth naturally shift over to the empty spaces — this may cause your bite to be off and might give you some jaw pain — it is definitely in your best interest to replace that tooth. We can match your natural tooth’s colour and shade, so no one will ever be able to tell the difference. Just like with a complete denture, a partial denture is removable to make it easier to clean and to sleep. The metal acts as an anchor and clasps onto your natural teeth, holding everything firmly in place so you can chew properly and have that perfect smile.
Immediate Dentures and Transitional Dentures
If you have extractions planned with your dentist and don’t want to go without teeth, an immediate denture might be an option for you. The immediate denture will be inserted right after your extractions on the same day, acting as a band-aid to promote healing and control swelling. We give the dentures 24-48 hours to settle in, and then Jon can help with any sore spots you may have. The fit of these dentures is temporary, as the gums heal with time, they will shrink and stabilize, causing your dentures to be loose. During the healing phase, a temporary liner with a soft tissue conditioner will be placed on your denture to minimize discomfort and give you a tighter fit. Once this healing process is finished, a new fit of the dentures will be made, also known as a reline.
An immediate denture is fabricated using approximate measurements, and since you will still have your teeth during the fitting process, you will not be able to try these dentures to see the aesthetics. You have the option to transition into a final denture after the gums heal to achieve your custom smile — Jon will start the process over again, from scratch, with a new set of impressions. This way you can try-in the aesthetics before finalizing them.
Implant Denture
Implant-retained or implant-supported dentures provide the most secure-fitting denture — instead of just resting on top of the gums like conventional dentures, these click onto a titanium post screwed into your jawbone. They are still removable to make cleaning easier and provide the best option for stability, comfort, and chewing. If you’re the right candidate, an implant denture is the best option to preserve bone loss.
Adjustments
Dentures are not meant to be sore, but if they are, Jon can provide you with an adjustment by relieving any heavy spots. Just like any prosthetic, like a prosthetic arm or leg, a break-in period is normal. A denture is an oral prosthetic, and during this break-in period, or the adjustment period, it may take some time.
We recommend wearing your new dentures for a few hours a day and slowly increasing your tolerance. Start off with eating soft foods and work your way up to harder foods.
Same-Day Repairs
Did you accidentally drop your dentures and now they’re broken in half? It happens. Whatever you do, do not use super glue; bring it to us instead. Our on-site laboratory allows us to repair your denture quickly, usually within the same day. We repair the fracture using the same material as the denture and can even add metal wires to ensure it’s completely reinforced. emergency urgent
Reinforced Dentures
If you keep breaking your proper-fitting denture just by chewing, reinforced dentures may be a great option for you. An additional reinforcement can be added for a more durable denture for patients with a heavy bite. These reinforcements can prevent cracks by distributing the force of the bite and can even provide a thinner denture base.
